"...a wonderful getaway. Breakfast was
absolutely delicious"-
Terry & Sharon; Wichita,KS
Breakfast
Early riser?
You'll find a variety of hot drinks in the
dining room and upstairs hall by 7:30 AM:
If the coffee doesn't wake you, the wonderful aroma of smoked bacon, fresh-baked muffins and cobblers wafting through the house will soon get you stirring. By the time breakfast arrives at 9AM, most of our guests will have arrived in the parlor to read the morning paper or a magazine and are prepared to pounce the moment the meal is announced! The following are just a few samples of what to expect of your breakfast experience at the Victorian Garden Inn.
Your three-course gourmet candle lit breakfast begins
with a fruit and bread course.
examples:
-
strawberry soup and chocolate-banana muffins
-or-
-
blackberry-banana compote with warm French
vanilla
crème sauce and orange scones
-or-
-
baked apples in brown sugar cider sauce and cinnamon-walnut bread
You will definitely enjoy the main course.
examples:
-
blueberry-stuffed French toast and bacon
-or-
-
frittata with fresh Italian-spiced tomato salsa and sausage
-or-
-
Dutch Baby (puffy German pancake) with fruit sauce and ham
Top off your breakfast with dessert, of course!
examples:
-
white chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce
-or-
-
heart-shaped cherry tart with hot fudge sauce
-or-
-
peach or blackberry cobbler with Devonshire cream
All three courses are accompanied by:
-
filtered ice water
-
your choice of hot drinks (see above)
-
our signature juice (a secret mix of orange with
strawberry, peach and other juices)
We aim to please...
We ask about allergies and dislikes when you check in, so you have an opportunity to let us know in advance about things
you'd rather not see on your plate. While we do not have a made-to-order kitchen, we can and do accommodate specific dietary requests such as diabetic and vegetarian needs.

Meet the innkeepers; Tim & Nancy Arbaugh |
 |
Nancy is the full-time innkeeper, Tim works in Oklahoma City
and assists Nancy on evenings and weekends. In the kitchen,
"Chef Nancy" prepares all of the delicious
components of your gourmet breakfast, while Tim serves in
the all-important roles of food taster and garnish chef.
"We work hard to ensure our guests comfort and to help
them enjoy the best possible experience here," says
Tim, "But we also believe in two basics that absolutely
must be right, or nothing else matters. And those are
the bed and the breakfast!" Nancy adds, "Tim may
be trying to be funny, but we really have invested a great
deal of time and money making sure the comfort of each bed
is truly remarkable, and we really do go all-out to make
breakfast the crowning touch of your stay." |
| On
weekend mornings, Nancy is allowed to concentrate on meal
preparation while Tim takes over as server. He also helps to
keep the table conversation lively with humor, stories and
tales of Guthrie history. Both of your hosts are well versed
in early Oklahoma and Guthrie history, as well as the
history of the house. If you ask Tim a question though, be
sure to ask for the short answer. His stories usually
entertain, but left unchecked, can run a little long! |
